In accordance with its vision of building an educated nation, the United African Apostolic Church (UAAC) held its 4th consecutive career exhibition session in its head-quarters, Ha-Mavhunga, on 26 May 2012. Over 400 learners who travelled from as far as Niani, Bochum, Vuwani, Ha-Sinthumule, Pretoria, Soweto and other areas, participated in this annual session. Whilst the majority of participants were UAAC members, there were a sizeable number of pupils from surrounding communities and schools in the Nzhelele valley. This is due to the fact that the session is held in pursuit of the UAAC‘s community outreach program under theme, “a better tomorrow for the UAAC and the Rainbow Nation at large”.
As in the past three years, the session was exclusively tailor-made for grade 10-12 learners. Institutions of Higher and Further Learning that took part in exhibition included University of Limpopo, University of Venda, Tshwane South College, Thasululo FET, Legal Aid, TFET Training and Nzhelele Craft Centre. Institutions such University of Pretoria, University of Johannesburg, Tshwane University of Technology, Tshwane North College and Rostec College provided prospectuses, application forms, bursary forms and other informative learning and study materials that were presented to learners by former and current students at such institutions.
For over three hours, learners interacted with student recruitment agents from institutions of higher and further learning who offered advice on career fields that are in demand in the current labor market as well as offering career options in accordance with the learners’ area of interest. The UAAC Gauteng Director of Youth Development, Miss Fulufhelo Ramaleba, gave an inspirational motivational talk. Central to her message was a phrase, “Only you can make a difference in your life and you have a GOD given potential to realize your dreams”.
The session has once more left an indelible mark in the minds of many as most learners expressed satisfaction with the session and vowed to act as its ambassadors in their respective areas due to its efficiency in imparting required knowledge to all learners at a relaxed setting.
Peace be unto all.
